Home Sweet Home
We purchased our first home together almost 3 years ago, in an area where we've been dreaming on living for years. Side note: I still can't believe we live here! When we purchased our home, it was about 6 years old and the previous owner had "tailored" it the way she wanted. After invisioning the potential that this place had, we jumped at the chance to purchase it and the rest is history! We were able to renovate and paint the way we wanted and the finished product was what we had always dreamed of! To this day, I walk into our home with the biggest and most proudest smile on my face because we made it our own. In my eyes, I am living in exactly the kind of home that I've always wanted.
My Husband gave me the free for all to do whatever I would like to our home (can you see why I love him so much?). I started with black and white and I am now adding hints of colour. All of our art is custom made, which includes the two quotes I have framed and a lot of the decoration is sourced from other countries, namely South Africa. I'm a huge fan of Scandanavian style homes so I got a lot of my inspiration Pinning this style. I believe in having real plants and growing my own vegetables for food, so incorporating nature into my home was a no brainer.
These are a few of my favourite home decor pieces right now (with the exception of Zion the Lion). The South African Zulu Wire Basket is something my Mother-in-law brought for me from her recent trip there. It was handmade by a local artisan, so no two are alike! I also love the clay plate that was also hand made and hand crafted by an obviously very talented artisan. My Husband and I dream of taking our kids there one day, but these beautiful crafts will have to do for now.
I'm always interested to see how people have decorated their homes, what they've chosen to display and why. Someones home is a personal art project that is filled with your loves, likes and interests and I love that you can learn about someone just by seeing what they've chosen to hang up, display and drape on their couches.
Your home is your sanctuary where you can sit back, relax and just enjoy being. I have my favourite spot in our living room, you can bet you could find me there this eve and for many years to come.
