DIY Coffee/Drink Sign
I've had my quaint little drink station for some time and I've always wanted a sign to go with it. A friend of mine recently got me into the whole Rae Dunn fiasco and so, my drink station has been brought back to life with some new goodies. Instead of my regular pinning, I went to Etsy (another fav of mine) for some sign-inspo and found a few I liked but cost serious dough. Sometimes the shipping cost more than the actual sign itself. I liked one so much that I decided I'd make my own and the end product is something I love so much!
Thankfully I had most of the supplies I needed on-hand and so I only spent less than $2 on this sign! Such a steal since most of the signs I saw were around $25- $45 on Etsy!
What you'll need:
- 1 x wooden dowel (stained or not stained the way you like it and it has to be long enough to fit your size preference - The one I bought was 4ft feet long) $1.78 at Home Depot
- Hot glue gun (mine)
- 1 x card stock (I had one on hand from previous projects)
- Saw (I used a knife (hehe) since the dowel was so easy to work with!)
- Font and print (I like to get my fonts from Dafont.com, the one I used was called The Skinny)
- Sander (I sanded down the sawed ends)
- Optional: laminate page
Directions
1) I chose my font and then sized it on the computer to the size I preferred (I played around with the sizing for some time and used the preview document button to get a feel for the true size)
2) Once I was happy with how it looked, I printed it off of cardstock paper
3) I started "sawing" my wooden dowel and measured it off of my print (no rulers were used throughout this project haha)
4) I hot glued the wood together and voila, a frame!
5) I laminated the back of the print and then super glued the parts of the print that the frame would cover
6) I used double sided tape to stick it onto the kitchen backsplash
I made two different signs and figured I would call it a "Drink Bar" since I myself am not a coffee drinker, but a tea drinker ;) Gotta be drink-inclusive right?
I found a dowel from Home Depot that was stained the exact colour I wanted!
Looks beautiful against my kitchen backsplash.
And the finished product!
I LOVE IT!
