A Frozen Birthday

After all of these months of planning and DIYing, my girls Frozen themed birthday party has come and gone! You may recall the Ice Castle I DIYed back in February. The big and goofy smile from my daughters face was worth all of the late nights and hard work.

The obsession with Frozen has only grown with time and I knew that I'd eventually have to give in and trade what I thought was going to be a unicorn themed party, into an Anna and Elsa soiree. Boy, it was worth it though because the look on her face when she saw what was done just for her was priceless.

The Feature Table

You know I love a good dessert/feature table or in this case, two. Frozen was quite simple and Pinterest was chock full of amazing ideas. You all know that I love planning early for two reasons, 1) Preparing EARLY means I can relax closer to the date and 2) I save so much more money because I order through cheaper websites that take months to deliver.

Here are some details about H's Frozen table

- Balloon Garland - I've always seen balloon garlands on Pinterest and thought it would be too hard to try to figure out so I always skipped it. When I saw it on my fellow mama's Instagram, who by the way is the craftiest mama I know (check her out, @Superbuds on Instagram), I just knew I had to incorporate it into H's table some how! This is what my girl, J shared with me.

- Hana's Ice Castle - I made this back in February for fear that I wouldn't be happy with the finished product. Well turns out, my first try at it was pretty successful and I got a thumbs up, a hug, a kiss and a squeal of excitement from my girl. So worth it!

- Giveaways - So at first I thought I'd make some edible giveaways but since the weather is a lot warmer, I decided on bubbles as giveaways. Good thing I did because they were a huge hit at the party! At one point, all of the kids were outside blowing bubbles and my girl, LOVED IT. She's sort of obsessed with bubbles.

- Hana'a Frozen Cupcake Cake - Since C's birthday cake was such a success, we decided to do the same for Princess H! Cupcake cakes are so underrated. They're a lot easier to work with and not to mention, cleaner. No plates or forks were needed, just a napkin and an appetite! We went to Save-On-Foods for our Frozen themed cake and they did a great job!

- Frozen Backdrop - I finally decided to purchased a backdrop stand off Amazon and let me tell you, its been an amazing tool to have! It was only $30 and although it isn't as sturdy as I want it to be, it does the job. The backdrop was something I found off good old Aliexpress.com for only $7. Yes, $7 freaking dollars! It took a while to get to me (almost a month) but man was it worth it. Hana LOVED her backdrop and it did so much to the feature table. Probably my favourite buy off that website yet.

Food

- Frozen Hearts - Or, white chocolate dipped strawberries made by me.

- Olaf Noses - I skipped out on the dip, which I happened to forget the day of the party and decided to just go with it!

- Jean's Cakes Macarons - Delicious as always!

- Frozen Rice Krispy Treats - Made by me.

Special Features

A girlfriend of mines daughter had a birthday party a few months ahead of Hana's big day and so she passed on this amazing cardboard frame to me. It was originally pink and I painted it blue and decorated it with a few Frozen items I found at the Dollar Store.

One of the many gifts my Parents contributed to this party was a Cotton Candy Machine. Initially, we were looking to hire a company to come in and spin the Cotton Candy for us but at a whopping $500 for two hours, my Mom decided on renting the actual machine and us doing it. This worked out perfectly for us! More details on a separate post since this company and the woman behind it deserve an extra shout-out!

AND LAST BUT DEFINITELY NOT LEAST.......

GUESS WHO MADE IT TO PRINCESS HANA'S 3RD BIRTHDAY?

More details on another post. Stay tuned!

I wanted to showcase two things at this table, my Rae Dunn collection and my favourite desserts from the Magnolia Table cookbook! The biggest hit at this table was my Lemon Bars. Trust me when I say this, YOU NEED TO TRY IT FOR YOURSELF!
