Elf on the Shelf Ideas
I'll admit, I received our family Elf on the Shelf way before my first born could walk. I knew, as soon as I saw it online, that this would be one of our Christmas traditions. For several years now, I've pinned away ideas and last year, Christmas 2017, was my first year at it and boy, did I enjoy all 40 days of it. That's right, 4-0. I'm not even going to pretend I didn't like it, because you know what? I did. Very much.
Here's a few of my favourites from last year.
I found these mini Gingerbread houses at the Dollar Store, that's right, the Dollar Store! I wanted something fun for them to do during the break that didn't cost a lot and this certainly did the trick. They had such a great time decorating their own houses, something I will definitely do this year,
My kids LOVE to paint and when I came across these Nutcrackers at the Dollar Store,
I knew they would be winners.
I kept things simple but super silly. The kids loved it when they found Bruno in my serve ware, enjoying my homemade Rice Krispie squares.
I came across this pin and thought it was super cute. I had a few string lights that I didn't need, lots of craft supplies and some mini-marshmallows. My kids thought this was hilarious!
A stick, some string, Goldfish crackers and a sink = Lots of laughs to be had!
Believe it or not but my kids were introduced to Paw Patrol around Christmas time so they were obsessed. Our living room was covered in Paw Patrol toys! I found the colouring books and markers from the Dollar Store, super simple and kept them busy for hours.
I'm a baker guys and any excuse to get baking, I took.
We made some of Mrs. Clause's famous chocolate cake this day!
If it isn't obvious in this photo, Bruno is hanging off one of our ceiling lights. I placed a sign on the steps asking them to come find me!
Who doesn't LOVE Home Alone?! Or a movie night for that matter. Hot chocolate, candy canes, marshmallows and popcorn. Winner, for the entire household!
Guys, a good old fashioned snowball fight (or rather, marshmallow fight) with your kids' toys is awesome! This year, we've got more Avengers so you can bet that this fight will be EPIC.
All tied up after a night of craziness this Elf
My Son was obsessed with dinosaurs and so I incorporated them a lot last year. I made a makeshift pond for the dinosaurs to civilly drink at. LOL.
Bruno and they toys sitting pool side with their shades
Elsa made the toys a skating rink and accidentally froze Bruno!
I found Bruno a super hero outfit on major discount and had to make the kids their own super hero capes too! This was a lot of fun and super easy to make. All you need is an old t-shirt and some hot glue. I used felt to create the letters which I traced using a print out of the letter.
When you've got no other ideas, sit your elf on a bed of sprinkles. The kids will LOVE it!
Bruno, hanging out.
Bruno brought my kids Kinder Surprise Advent Calendars!
Every year my Mama pals and I get together for a Christmas Craft Night. Last year I made a tree house for Bruno to hang out in on the kids' tree. It lights up and everything!
He got them some books to read!
Bruno read a Christmas story to all of his pals this night.
Silly Bruno, thinking this was a Gingerbread house
It's hard to see in this photo but Bruno is hanging off paper snow flakes! I made about a dozen of these and hung them off their doors so that when they'd open them, they'd have to walk through them! Such a fun idea!
Found these tees on sale at Walmart for dirt cheap. Yep, Bruno got them shirts!
I hope this post gave you some ideas! I've decided to have Bruno show up on December 1st. I have to admit, after writing this post and rewatching the videos of my kids' reaction, I'm already thinking of things to do! Yay!
